As announced on August 25, 2006, Colgate-Palmolive (India) Ltd., offered voluntary retirement schemes to workmen at its manufacturing facility at Sewri in the last week of August, 2006. All workmen at the Sewri facility voluntarily accepted the same. Consequently, the operations at our Sewri facility ceased effective close of business hours on September 27, 2006.

Colgate-Palmolive (India) Limited has today announced Voluntary Retirement Schemes for employees at  manufacturing facility at Sewri in Mumbai. This announcement has been made in consultation with the Workmen Union. The acceptance of this offer by the workmen is likely to improve the Company's competitive strength.

The various elements of the Voluntary Retirement Scheme such as medical coverage, etc. have been formulated in keeping with the Company's high corporate standards.

Colgate Palmolive (India) Ltd informed BSE/NSE today that the Board of Directors of the Company has passed a resolution appointing Mr. Roger D Calmeyer as Managing Director of the Company for a period of five years with effect from June 01, 2006 subject to the approvals of the Central Government and Shareholders of the Company.

Mr. Graeme Dalziel resigned as Managing Director of the Company effective on May 31, 2006 following his appointment as General Manager and Vice-President Colgate Palmolive, France, one of the largest subsidiaries in the Colgate world.

Roger is currently serving as General Manager of Colgate South Eurasia Region encompassing businesses in Turkey, the Caucases, Central Asia and Belarus. Under his strong leadership, Turkey’s sales and profits increased dramatically and significant market share growth was achieved.

Roger is a Colgate veteran with 32 years of service with the Corporation, including more than 20 years of international experience and has considerable expertise in emerging markets. He served as President and Director General of Colgate Romania from 2000 to 2005. Roger has also worked in Canada, Belgium and the United States. The early part of his career was spent in South Africa. Roger has also been active in American Business Associations / American Chambers of Commerce in several countries and has served as Vice-President and President of these organizations at various times.

At the  Board Meeting of the Company held today, Mr. Graeme Dalziel, Managing Director of the Company,  advised the Board  that he has been offered and has accepted the position of General Manager and Vice-President of Colgate-Palmolive, France, one of the largest subsidiaries in the Colgate world.

The effective date of Mr. Dalziel’s resignation as Managing Director of Colgate-Palmolive (India) Limited and the appointment of his successor will be announced shortly.
