On October 9, 2007 Kalka Public School, New Delhi hosted a unique event – the Colgate Brush-Up Challenge. Over 5,000 school children from 7 schools in Delhi gathered at the Kalka Public School ground. The excitement was palpable. The objective was to participate in an attempt to break the world record for children brushing at the same time across multiple venues. More importantly, it was an opportunity for school children to learn the right way to brush. Participants received dental health packs containing a toothbrush, toothpaste, bottled water and a container for rinsing. Dental professionals associated with IDA guided them about the right way to brush. The highlight of the morning was when Bollywood superstar and Colgate MaxFresh Brand Ambassador, Saif Ali Khan, came to visit the school children as they attempted to break the record. His words of encouragement were motivating. And when he went around the ground shaking the hands of the school children and cheering them on, the school children were left touched and inspired.
In addition to the centralized brushing event in Delhi, over 1,75,000 school children from over 350 schools across 22 cities in India participated in the satellite brushing events held in various other school venues.Colgate Brush up challenge was a huge success and Colgate-Palmolive India ltd., holds the Guinness World Records with 1,77,003 people at 380 locations simultaneously brushing their teeth.
